Taking a break at the end of a field, 2013. The woman in the photo puts small packets of corn seed into the corn planter. Her job is to get the right seed into the right plot. This takes a lot of concentration and a rest at the end of the field is perfectly justified. There is a small post in the ground to the right in the photo. This holds a steel cable that has trip knobs every 20 feet. The knobs tell the planter to drop another packet of seed. Our fields are in excess of 700 feet long so people have to move this long steel cable over several rows after each planting pass.
